Seth Meyers of Saturday Night Live hosted the show and did a great job of awarding all the 'geeks' in the room. He rolled off a few preset jokes, but his quick wit during the show was the best part. Some dude gave a one word speech (if you don't know, the Webby's only allow you a 5 word acceptance speech) and Seth referred to him as 'ICE MAN' for the rest of the show. It was pretty funny at the time. Then again it was open bar all night, so it may just be a fond memory only I thought was mega funny.
Wiretree brought home two Webby Awards for LAfilm.com. Believe it or not we won for best homepage (I'm still pretty dazed). As in... best homepage! That felt like a really big deal to me. Congrats to the whole team at Wiretree and the folks at Platinum Creative on this stellar collaboration.
I said hello to some cats from Big Spaceship and told the #FF0000 folks they were cool people for the rad work they do. It was pretty cool to be in the audience with all the big kids and studios that I have respect for. Glad to be a part of that, as they say that the Webbys are the Oscars of web design, so it's a pretty big honor all around.
Then we headed off to the after party where I thought it essential to take over the cool horse shoe booth upstairs at the Hiro. Yeah, that's right VIP style. After getting our turf we kicked back and waited for Luda to bring some vocal heat to the club. He brought out Sneaky Pete (who we all called Stinky Pete, cause of Phil's take on it) who did an song - then Luda threw down a mix up of old and new. It was a good time.
I won't mention the travel back to ATL, cause it was just a mess. Over and out.
