The Buzz Of Creation

Insomnia is an agent of creation. I'm often left awake late at night - thinking, questioning and pondering. My mind spins and spins and I always seem to be working something out. Although the norm is to rest and recharge, I'm not wired that way. I'm surely set to burn out along the way, but I'm fine with that because I enjoy the the energy I get and the creative boost that comes from chasing down an idea no matter when the moment strikes. It's quite amazing because I would tend to fight through it time and time again until one day I realized - it's not a fight it's just a choice. So, it became my routine - and a more open channel. The next day/morning/night I can revisit my thoughts, twist and turn my viewpoint and continue to mold. Ideas are ever-evolving, so I'm ever-pursuing them.

I often reflect on the fact that I'm the only one pushing myself to be this way. I'm chasing my own dreams, I'm striving to make something new and always excited to share my thoughts along the way. I crave "the next step." Mainly because I don't know what it is. I dream up big ideas, I scratch them down and detail them out. I know when I'm onto something good, but often I make the scope of the idea so large (because I can't help of think through all the iterations past the initial conception, I go to v3 in a heartbeat because I work through how it will change and evolve in an audience, etc.). That is the mark of someone searching for invention.

Taking a look back on just a few years of time is always painful for me. I never feel as though I've accomplished enough. I see past thoughts or ideas of mine come to life by the hands of others and I internally scoff that I didn't make that happen 4 years ago when I knew that would be something that would come about in the future. The tough part is that I want to do all these things but could only devote to one or two at a time and more than likely need a funding source (not always, but often).

This coming year I'm going to find ways to share my ideas, concepts and inventions (not hide them). Even if the stream is disjointed and undirected I'll at least be giving the idea a chance to gain some motion in the real world. Either by the hands of others who take it and shape it and make it their own, or through collaboration with people who also sync up with the concept and what to make it happen. We live in an age that offers and amazing opportunity to connect, share and create with anyone anywhere and to bring creation to life more minds are better than one.
